July 30, 2025: ULA Citizen Oversight Committee Recommends Including Households Impacted by Immigration and Enforcement Actions to Disaster Relief Income Support Program

At the meeting on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the ULA COC approved a motion recommending an additional priority factor be incorporated into the proposed IncomeSupport for Rent-Burdened At-Risk Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Disaster Relief Program (ISP). This motion included recommendations that the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) research and report on the feasibility, benefits, and potential drawbacks of including this priority factor to the proposed program.

In response to public commenters at the July 10, 2025 regular COC meeting, Committee Chair Zerita Jones moved to schedule an additional July COC meeting to recommend how the ISP for Disaster Relief can support households impacted by the Immigration and Enforcement actions. These recommendations build upon the COC’s work earlier this year, to include a priority factor for households impacted by the January 2025 wildfires.
